Our Commitment to Safety

YNOT is committed to supporting, enhancing and upholding the safety, wellbeing and empowerment of all children and young people. YNOT aims to drive positive change with young people aged 12-25 years and the youth sector in Tasmania.

We will do this by...

1. Creating a culturally safe space.

  • For Aboriginal children and young people, so they can enjoy their right to self-determination, identity and culture.
  • For children and young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, by accepting, respecting and welcoming the difference between and within cultures.

2. Striving for a Tasmania where all young people are valued.

  • Celebrating diversity, valuing inclusion and recognising the individual value of all young people.
  • Ensuring all young people from vulnerable communities are supported to access open choices and opportunities.

3. Ensuring child and youth safety is championed throughout our organisation.

  • Embedding child and youth safety throughout policies, practices and staff conduct.
  • Ensuring our staff are knowledgeable and competent in supporting child and youth safety.
  • Seeking input and guidance from young people for key decisions and program design.
  • Providing young people with opportunities to give us feedback and suggestions to improve what we do.
