The Link Youth Health Service - D&D&D
Dungeons & Dragons & Diversity (D&D&D): Through The Link Youth Health Service - and led by community leaders Alex and Allanna who have been running this community-connections youth program - D&D&D aimed to help bring LGBTIQ+ young people together to meet like-minded peers in a safe and inclusive space, learn a new hobby through D&D, and have fun!
‘I loved fantasy novels and movies as a kid, but I found that strong, core, queer characters were hard to come by. Dungeons and Dragons and Diversity provides an opportunity to build stories together with all kinds of characters that better represents the queer community. It is so important to have stories and adventures with queer characters, with a focus on team building and story-telling. I have loved watching my players become friends through D&D&D, whether it’s bickering over bread prices or building a mechanical lobster suit.’ -Alex
‘D&D&D is more than just a game, it’s a safe space for queer youth to explore aspects of themselves through collaborative storytelling! Along the way they enhance their communication skills, meet like-minded people, and are free to enthusiastically be themselves. I have loved being able to teach new skills to the participants in our games and watch them grow into better players and better friends!’ – Allanna
