TYF 'Antidote' Statewide Forum on Anti-discrimination

Date: Thu, 14/06/2012

The Tasmanian Youth Forum (TYF) launched their communiqué on Anti-discrimination with the Minister for Community Development, Cassy O’Connor MP on 1 November 2011.

The communiqué, written by TYF member Chloe Turner details the results of the day-long statewide Anti-dote Forum, held on the last day of the International Year of Youth.

This forum provided young Tasmanians aged 12-25 years with the chance to discuss their concerns about discrimination issues in Tasmania, across topics such as multiculturalism and sexual identity.

The communiqué also includes the results of an anonymous survey in which the 130 participants detailed their thoughts and experiences in relation to discrimination.

One of the main findings was that young Tasmanians believe Tasmania needs to be a more tolerant community, and celebrate the diversity of our population. The communiqué is on the YNOT website.
